The Sydney Kolam Maduwa was set up in 2002 to keep alive Sri Lanka’s Lionel Wendt tradition of the English theatre here in Australia. It was the brain child of Ernest MacIntyre who had been a well known Playwright in Sri Lanka prior to emigrating to Australia in the 1970’s. He was ably supported by many others, some of whom had also been an integral part of the Lionel Wendt Theatre in Sri Lanka. 

 

It is a group of friends most of who perform theatre with a Sri Lankan flavour purely for the pleasure of providing our audiences with a whiff of home - nostalgic for those who remember, and informative for those in our audiences.
